Fresh water is used in the hive to drink and is fed to young bees. The water is also used to ferment the pollen into beebread, a high protein fermented super food. Fresh water is also used in the hive to cool the hive while fanning. Honeybees are the only insect that can self mitigate the internal temperature of there hive. Honeybees are well adept to surviving in the deep and long cold winters of the northeast. Honeybees unhinge there wings and use there flying muscles to vibrate there bodies together in a cluster maintaining a an internal temperature of 97F.
